Support CHAPS as they Support Our School

Our Parents’ Association is in full swing!

CHAPS do a great job in both engaging the school in community events and leading fundraising. Please head to the CHAPS page of the newsletter to hear more about the upcoming Trivia Night and our current fundraising activities of the Cadbury Chocolate Drive and Hoyts Movie Ticket Offer (an amazing deal!).

Sibling Enrolments

A reminder for families with siblings due to start Prep next year to please submit their Enrolment Forms  to robyn.miller@education.vic.gov.au  ASAP. This will be of great help to Robyn and me as we continue to manage our enrolment numbers.

School Tours are still available Tuesdays 9:30am, Wednesdays 12:30pm and Thursdays 9:30am.

Emergency Management at Croydon Hills Primary School

This week the school has exercised our Emergency Management Plan on two occasions. Both occasions were minor and inconsequential to community health and operations. More detailed information on the event is available on Compass to internal community members.

Our Emergency Management Team has reflected on the successes of both exercises with the highlights being:

  • the exception calmness our staff responded with - both those with their hands on the ground and those at school managing the situation(s).
  • the swift collaborative decision-making of staff
  • the timely communication of staff and our Emergency Management Team to our various stakeholders including the school community, the most affected children’s families and various branches of the Department.
  • the care our staff had in supporting children that required emotional support immediately following the incident.
  • the leadership of our experienced staff who took control of the incident and showed courage and confidence in not being pressured into actions they were not comfortable with.
  • The broader community’s care and commitment to the safekeeping of our school with the sharing of information and raising an alert.

Well done and thank you to our community!

Reconciliation Week (Special Assembly Friday 26th)

A reminder our school is acknowledging the upcoming National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June) tomorrow at 2:40pm at a Whole School Assembly in the Stadium.  We invite the community to attend.

Throughout the Reconciliation Week students will engage in learning focused on community, contemporary history, cultural sensitivity, and healing.  The focus for Reconciliation Weeks of recent years has centred around speaking up, asking the hard questions and taking action during and beyond National Reconciliation Week. To help us all, Reconciliation Australia have compiled 20 actions for reconciliation.  We encourage families to be having these conversations at home and regularly.
