School Life @ ASPS

That’s A Wrap – Production 2023!

Congratulations to all students on their amazing performance, effort and commitment to deliver such a wonderful show!

A Funny Thing Happened in the Library was the product of an intensive rehearsal schedule which involved script writing workshops, singing, dancing and acting rehearsals. The hard work paid off and the show has been reviewed as the greatest musical ever written about a school library!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to help make this show happen, as Mr Jones said “It takes a small army to create a school production.”

Congratulations again, and we look forward to showcasing our Year 1 & 2 performers in a small production in the school hall early September.

Book of the Week

Two Rainbows

Written by - Sophie Masson                                     Illustrated by - Michael McMahon

All the colours of the rainbow are explored against the striking backdrop of two different worlds. Lyrical text tells the story of a child who has moved from a farm into the city, and learns that colour surrounds all of us, no matter where we live.

Division Cross Country

I would like to congratulate all Auburn South Primary students who competed at the Division Cross Country 2023 at Ruffey Lake Park on Monday 29th May. The 10 and under age group run a 2km course with uphill climbs and through park land whist the 11 and 12 year old age groups run 3km through challenging terrain.

Auburn South had some terrific results with many students finishing in the top 20 of the Division. The 10 year old boys age group produced some of the best results our school has ever had at the Division Cross Country with Jonah Tossoun starring in first place.

A big congratulations the following students qualifying for the Eastern Metropolitan and Regional Finals.

10 Year Old Girls and Under:

  • 5th place Fiona Ryu

10 Year old Boys and Under:

  • 1st place Jonah Tossoun
  • 3rd place Christian Burnet

5/6 Fundraising Bake Sale

In week 5, Grade 6C held a production fundraiser in the form of a Bake Sale. The class were expertly supported by Karen, Lisa McCarthy and Sally Ho in the kitchen and the sale. The students worked tirelessly and cooperatively to make six types of cakes from scratch in less than 3 hours.

They also prepared the area for the sale and organised all of the year levels to attend the bake sale in order. In total, over 400 students bought something from the bake sale and well over $400 was raised for the production. It was a remarkable achievement from 6C as well as from Karen, Lisa and Sally.

In Grade 6 our current unit of inquiry is inquiring into how varied contributions create a collective vision and this was a true example of this taking place in real life. We are so proud of all of the hard work that all of the students are putting in for production and the contribution of all students and their families is so vital to make this collective vision come to fruition.
