Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week – 27 May to 3 June – is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The National Reconciliation Week 2023 theme, “Be a Voice for Generations” is a challenge to all Australians—individuals, families, communities, organisations, and government—to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives.

Holy Father, God of Love, You are the Creator of all things.

We acknowledge the pain and shame of our history and the sufferings of our peoples, and we ask your forgiveness.

We thank you for the survival of Indigenous cultures. Our hope is in you because you gave your Son Jesus to reconcile the world to you.

We pray for your strength and grace to forgive, accept and love one another –

as you love, forgive and accept us through the sacrifice of your Son.

Give us the courage to accept the realities of our history so that we may build a better future for our nation.

Teach us to respect all cultures.

Teach us to care for our land and waters.

Help us to share justly the resources of this land.

Help us to bring about spiritual and social change to improve the quality of life for all groups in our communities, especially the disadvantaged.

Help young people to find true dignity and self-esteem by your Spirit.

May your power and love be the foundations on which we build our families, our communities and our nation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Vinnies Winter Appeal

Please continue to send in your donations to the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Vinnies use all donations to the Winter Appeal to provide emergency food hampers and food vouchers, financial assistance with mounting and escalating bills, funding for prescriptions for vital medication, and blankets and clothing to keep people warm and cosy during winter. Our donations can help them to assist those people doing it tough, particularly important during our cold winters. We are starting to see some clothing come in, thank you for that, but we are still looking for some canned, and non-perishable food and blankets/sleeping bags. This term, Mr Aaron Lucas and his senior class have been making milkshakes for the students. They will be making a significant financial donation to Vinnies through these sales and we thank them for this.
