Assistant Principal's Report

Miss Carly Epskamp

We have had another fabulous fortnight at DPS. With only a week and a half of Term Two to go, I am left thinking “where has this term gone?”

Sustainability Conference

The Junior School Council and the Sustainability Team were lucky enough to attend the ‘Lead to Sustain’ excursion last Friday 9th June. The students had so much fun learning strategies to implement within our everyday lives to help sustain the environment around us. They learnt about how their actions can impact multiple different aspects of our environment such as animals and nature. It was a great day. Thank you to Miss Larsen and Mr Spinks for organising the day.

Movie Night

A big thank you to Miss Larsen and the Junior School Council for organising the movie nights for all of the DPS students. Last Thursday, the Preps and Grade Ones thoroughly enjoyed watching The Lorax. We are looking forward to our final movie nights tonight and tomorrow night.

Interschool Sport

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our Level Five and Six students who participated in their final Interschool Sports Session for the year. Over the last few weeks we have seen huge effort, persistence, team work and a great deal of camaraderie among the DPS students. We are very proud of the efforts displayed. Thank you to our Level Five and Six teachers for accompanying our students and coaching and umpiring the games.

Curriculum Day

Last Tuesday, our teachers participated in an onsite Curriculum Day. We had a range of guest speakers and studied best practise in a range of curriculum areas. Some topics we explored were; data, multiplication, moderation practises, EAL and School Wide Positive Behaviour. The teachers had a very productive day.

Mid Year Reports

Students have been working hard in Semester One with their teachers and classmates. Throughout this time, they have completed many assessment tasks and projects. This will all come together to form part of the students Mid Year Report, which will be live and ready for access tomorrow (Friday). Please see Compass for directions on how to download your child’s report.

Student Led Conferences

On Tuesday, we are having Student Led Conferences from Prep-6 and it is a student free day as a result. In their 15 minute time slot, students will present the work that they have been doing across the semester and inform their parents why they were successful in their tasks and why they are proud of the work they’ve completed. They will also try to identify areas for improvement and goals for Terms Three and Four. If you have not booked in for a Student Led Conference, please do so ASAP. Contact your child’s teacher or the office if you need assistance booking a time.

Early Finish

The last day of Term Two will be Friday 23rd June and school will conclude at 2:15pm. Please organise for your child/ren to be collected from school at this time.
