From the Principal

Steven Barclay

Welcome everyone, I can't believe how quickly this term has passed!

I have some good news to share. We can confirm the appointments of two permanent teaching positions for next year: Brittany Dunchue has accepted the position as English teacher and Tarni Reeves has accepted the position as our Technologies teacher. We will shortly be advertising for a permanent Science/Maths teacher so hopefully we will have some news to share in the next newsletter.

Leadership vacancies were also advertised this year: Deputy Principal (3 Years), Senior Years Coordinator (5 Years) and Middle School Coordinator (3 Years). All of the panel processes have been completed and we are awaiting approval from the department before we can announce them. We have received approval for the Deputy Principal position, so I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jenny Coe on winning this position till the end of 2025.

Over the last term I have consulted with the staff, leadership team and Governing Council on a change of time to the school week. We are now at the stage that we would like to consult with our broader community and parents. The proposed change would give all of the students an extra 25 mins of learning per week, a dedicated career development/ Wellbeing lesson and an early closure one day per week to allow teachers to develop their skills and practice. Full details will be circulated via email, post and Facebook next week. Please keep an eye open as the consultation process will continue until the beginning of Term 3.

Year 7 to High School transition continues to progress well and we will include an update in the next newsletter.

With the Term 2 holidays beginning in a few weeks, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our students and staff a well-deserved break and looking forward to another successful term 3. Hopefully the cold weather abates a little!

Stay safe, happy and healthy,

Steven Barclay
