How do we celebrate our world?

1/2B students are enjoying learning about other cultures and celebrations through our Inquiry unit ‘How do we celebrate our world?’. 

The students have been participating in a range of experiences learning about different cultures and celebrations. The unit began by sharing the various events and special days we have with our families, in school and around Australia. 1/2B students then shared their wonderings of other cultures and celebrations.

On Wednesday 12th May, Year 1/2 students had a Cultural Day where the students dressed up in country colours and travelled around the world. Through class rotations, students visited Canada, Greece, Australia, France, Ireland, Egypt and the UK. They learnt about the location of each country, how they celebrate different cultures and completed a CJC Passport Fact File. Year 1/2 students had a wonderful day, singing, dancing, drawing and exploring different ways people celebrate in our world.

We will continue our learning by participating in cultural rotations and learning about popular sports in various countries. We will research a chosen celebration and make a presentation to share with the class.
