Senior School

From the Head of Senior School

It is the academic season; the Year Twelve ATAR students have finished their exams and are getting their results, the Year Eleven ATAR students sit their exams next week, and this week all the Year Ten students are sitting their Semester One exams. I was very pleased by the comment from one of the Year Twelve students that these exams were so much less stressful than last year’s. This is because by Year Twelve, the students are becoming very familiar with the process and experience of exam writing, which is our main aim in conducting exams from Year Ten onwards. When it really counts, in November of Year Twelve, the students feel completely comfortable with exam writing, and can concentrate on their content preparation in the lead up.

For the General students the experience of writing exams in Year Ten is invaluable, as their courses contain a formal Externally Set Task. I have been pleased by the application and maturity in their approach shown by our Year Ten students this week.

All details of the arrangements for the exam period are on MyGSG.

This week the VACS Hunger Heroes team delivered a number of meals to the Albany Food Bank. This was the culmination of their term of Service in VACS. The students have found it very rewarding to have helped out those less fortunate, and it is good to see the tangible results of our VASCs programme. Especial thanks to Mrs Teresa McAllister for all her work co-ordinating the Hunger Heroes.

Congratulations to the following students who have received Half or Full Colours for the Arts:
