Stage 6 Tutoring In the Library

The Library has become a great place for Stage 6 students to receive one on one guidance from tutors in residence. Miss O’Sullivan (English and literacy) and Sebastian Diss (Mathematics) have joined our College team and are often in the Library tutoring Stage 6 students.  Miss O’Sullivan and Sebastian offer an inhouse service that is free to students.  Miss O’Sullivan is bookable through Mentor Group teachers.  Students wanting Sebastian’s assistance need to speak to Mr Godden first. Alternatively, Stage 6 students can catch up with them during senior study sessions.  This is a great opportunity for our students.

Reading, relaxing and enjoying

Our new library reading space has been a great reset for reading as a relaxing pastime.  We have seen an increase in classes coming in to borrow a book.  It has been great to see students enjoy the simple act of finding a book of choice, then getting comfortably seated and reading it. Many students enjoy them so much that they will borrow these books at the end of the lesson.

Some of our senior students assisted earlier this term with moving shelving into the new locations.

National Reconciliation Week 2021

The National Reconciliation Week 2021 theme is “More than a word.  Reconciliation takes action.” In 2021, the focus is for the reconciliation movement to move towards braver and more impactful action.

In our library, our National Reconciliation Week 2021 display features selected books from our collection and the art work “Action” by artist Jessica Johnson.  During the Week, students can come in, add colour to our wall sized copy and borrow a book.

In our Library display, on the shelves and through our e-reader, Sora, we have many fiction and non-fiction books by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors.  These books focus on our shared histories, cultures and achievements.  For those staff and students participating in our “Invitation to Read” between now and 20 August,  now is a great time to choose one and record it on your Invitation to Read Card available from the Library Counter.

Requesting Books you would like to read

We are very open to requests for new reading materials.  Recently we have purchased some interesting titles.  Here are some of our requested titles.
