Phonogram Parent Course

Parents learning
Parents learning

Songs, quizzes and lots of information around our phonics approach at MPRPS made up our final session. Thank you to all our parents who came to every night and participated enthusiastically and will be able to show their children how much they know about our codes!  I would also like to acknowledged all the work that Emma McCoy and Andrew Shaw put into make sure the course was valuable and thank you to all of our staff for supporting them and  the parents across the last three weeks.

See some of the feedback from our parent participants.

'Thank you for giving up your evenings to teach us! Much appreciated.'

'Thank you to Emma and Andrew. They were fabulous trainers and so energetic. A really great program and I really appreciate everyone's time to teach us. It will definitely help teaching at home.'

'Wonderful course. Well done to the presenters, who were energetic and exciting throughout.'

'I found this course very educational and so different from what was taught ... I have found myself saying a lot...”I’m not sure, it’s just the way it is” now I actually have the reasoning behind it.'

Year 1/2 Healesville Excursions

Sun, buses, lunch amongst the trees and Australian animals everywhere. Black cockatoos sailing over head and a kestrel and wedge tailed eagle zooming across the crowds JUST above our heads. The bird show at Healesville was a highlight but the whole trip was a very valuable experience for our Inquiry Centre students. Huge thank you to parents who cam along to help - even driving themselves. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you to Miss Emily Glen for organising and for staff for being so enthusiastic - we were all very excited to be going on an excursion.

First Nations People Professional Learning

On Wednesday we participated in a Professional Learning session run by Miss Brooke Henwood and Mrs Yana Gill on ways to incorporate more First Nations People perspectives in our programs as outlined in the Victorian Curriculum. Yana and Brooke lead us through a very engaging session with staff planning lots of different experiences for students. Be on the look out for evidence of how we are incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives in our programs.
