TheirCare OSHC

Important Announcement

Dear Parents and Carers,

I wish to provide information in relation to the circuit breaker lockdown and what it means for the Outside of School Hours Care program. As per notification that has been sent to families, Yarrabah’s EEP and school-aged program will be closed and running a remote and flexible learning program during the lockdown.

Yarrabah’s OSHC program will not be operating in any capacity today; families are advised to make alternate care arrangements.

Yarrabah’s OSHC program are currently planning for the possibility of being open and available next week, to those students who meet the following criteria:

  • Are children of authorised workers or vulnerable children;
  • Attend Yarrabah’s school-based program on the same day as they are booked in at OSHC;
  •  Are currently enrolled in the OSHC program;
  • Are already attending as a regular weekly booking on set, pre-arranged days.

Families of students not meeting these criteria are advised to make alternate care arrangements for the lockdown period.

We are also unable to accommodate any new bookings during this time. Thank for your understanding.

Warm Regards,

Kim Taylor

School Holiday Program - Bookings Open until June 11th

Bookings are now open for the upcoming holidays. It is an action packed program, consisting of five incursions and five excursions. Please contact TheirCare to book via email: yarrabah@theircare.com.au Hard copies of the holiday program flyer are available from reception.

A reminder to families that the Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) program at Yarrabah School is a pilot program funded by the Department of Education and Training and therefore is free to attend. There will be no cost for students to attend the program after school or during the school holidays.

Hours of operation are from 3pm-6pm during school terms and 8am-6pm during school holiday programs.

For those requiring assistance to complete booking and enrolment forms for the Winter Holiday Program, I will be holding an in-person holiday booking session on Thursday, June 10th, between 10am-2pm, with TheirCare staff to assist parents and carers. Please contact me via email: kimberley.taylor@education.vic.gov.au or mobile: 0459 868 746 to book a meeting.

Are you a Carpenter or Registered Builder who can help by donating a few hours of your time?

We are seeking the assistance of a registered builder or carpenter able to volunteer their time to help install a partition wall. The wall is a non-load bearing wall and approximately 3 metres wide and 2 metres high, including space required for a door cavity. All materials will be supplied.

If you are able to assist with this project, or require further details and images of the space, please contact me on 0459 868 746. Please feel free to share this communication with friends, family and work colleagues. The works will be acknowledged and publicised via our fortnightly newsletter, via Compass and on our Facebook page.

OSHC Attendances

The number of children attending the weekly OSHC program has been steadily increasing and is close to reaching capacity on some afternoons. For families already using the service we ask that you notify TheirCare of any absences with at least 24 hours’ notice on yarrabah@theircare.com.au. This assists greatly with staffing and will also enable another child to use the vacated place when a wait list is implemented. Parents/Carers are also advised to contact the service ASAP if wanting to book a place for the first time.

On the day absences can be sent through via text on 0459 868 746.

OSHC Program Brochure and Enrolment Form

Please read the brochure attached in pdf and image format for further information about the program.

The enrolment form and permission to release information form are attached and need to be completed prior to children using the program.

Contact TheirCare on 0476 004 524 or yarrabah@theircare.com.au if you are interested in your child attending.

Program Update

Exciting things are happening within our Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC) program, including works to refresh rooms currently used by up to 30 Yarrabah students each afternoon, and up to 40 students daily during the school holiday program.

I welcome contact from families in relation to suggestions for improving the OSHC program, including potential community partnerships and school holiday program destinations. I also welcome contact from individuals/companies wishing to donate items to the program, including play items and gardening products. Sponsors will be recognised via our Yarrabah School newsletter and Facebook page.

Thank you to Anies, owner of Le Art Space in Mordialloc, for being our first community partner this term. Upcoming partnerships include a visit from the Edithvale Fire Brigade. We are also in the planning stages for community partnerships in sporting activities such as golf, soccer, lawn bowls and basketball, as well as cooking, gardening and music sessions.
