Denise's Message
Dear Families,
'I Am A Learner' is the school value that we are focussing on for Term 3 and I am proud to say that across all year levels our staff and students are all passionate and determined to be better learners. They are learning new knowledge, skills, and concepts across all curriculum areas and also how to be a lifelong learner. I have seen our Prep children being persistent in Discovery time and our Yr 5/6 children being motivated to improve their multiplication skills. Throughout our school we see our children becoming learners who are motivated, courageous, persistent, collaborative, and reflective.
Grandparents Morning
It was great to see so many of our children's Grandparents and special people join us last week for Grandparent's Morning. They all visited their grandchildren's classrooms and then joined together for a prayer liturgy in the hall where they were entertained by our Year 1 and Prep children. The smiles on all faces were a delight to see and it was lovely to hear the comments from our special visitors about how different the classrooms looked from their days at school and how much they enjoyed the morning. We look forward to this event becoming a regular on our school calendar.
Closure Day
A school closure day is scheduled for MONDAY 28TH AUGUST. There is no school for children on this day as all staff will be engaged in a Professional Learning Day focussing on Assessment and Data. Vacation care will be available for families on this day so please make a booking with Susan at YLV.
Rock Bottom Production
This will be our first whole school production since 2019 and we are all very excited about it, I'm sure your children have been practicing their dances and songs at home as rehearsals at school are now in full swing. The production is a very important part of our Arts Program and it is compulsory for all children to attend on the night.
Parents must contact their child's teacher or me if they have a valid reason such as a family holiday already booked, for not attending on the night.
If your family requires any help with costumes please get in touch with Stacey, the music teacher, or the class teacher.
Tickets are now on sale via trybooking so get in early to purchase your tickets as there are limited seats available. From Monday 7th August families are able to purchase extra tickets if required.
Continue to check Class Dojo or Operoo for more details.

Prep 100 Days of School
It is hard to believe but our Prep children have finally reached their 100 days at school and will celebrate this next Wednesday, so don't be surprised if you see many 100 year old children around our school!
School Uniform
Thank you for your support in ensuring that your child wears the correct school uniform. The school prides itself on having our students always well-presented and following our school rules, policies, and procedures. At Wednesday night's School Advisory Council Meeting, a new Uniform policy was ratified. This policy can be found on the SAC page of this newsletter and will be shared with families via Operoo.
The Council also endorsed the introduction of a new uniform item to replace the current bomber jacket. We are currently canvassing all students on their preference and will be asking staff and families for theirs as well.
Condolences
Our thoughts and prayers go to our Office Manager, Michelle, and her family on the recent passing of her much-loved dad, James Francis Scheggia. His memorial was on Monday and he received a beautiful send-off from family and friends.
May perpetual light shine upon him, and may he rest in peace
We also keep Leanne, our Yr 3/4 LSO, and her family on the 12-month anniversary of her husband, Phil's, passing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all
School Fees
The payment of all School Fees and Levies is due to be finalised by the end of this term unless you have a direct debit system in place. I ask all families that still need to finalise their school fees to do so as soon as possible.
2024 School Year
Planning is already underway for the 2024 school year. If your family is moving away from the area and your children will not be attending St Michael's next year, please contact the office as soon as possible.
We still have some places available for Prep 2024 so if you have any family or friends with a school-aged child please let them know.
