Concert – ‘Parkdale Steps Back in Time’
Tuesday 5th September at The Palais Theatre
The concert is fast approaching, the students are honing their dancing and singing skills in preparation for the big night. Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Tuesday 15th August.
Aerobics - Nationals
Good luck to our Aerobics teams, Rockin Robics and Starbursts who will be competing at the Nationals in Adelaide this weekend. Thank you to Miss Byrne and Miss Hibberd for training the girls throughout the year and to the teams for their dedication and commitment to training.
We have several students participating in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee. This is a national spelling competition that is completed online and free to enter. Students answer 30 random spelling words per round. They complete the initial round and then depending on results can move onto State and National rounds. The first round of the competition is on Wednesday 16th August.
Australian Mathematics Competition
We had several students from Grades 3-6 participating in the Australian Mathematics competition last week. The AMC is an engaging competition of 30 questions that demonstrates the importance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives. Thank you to Mr Blacklaw and Mr Bainbridge for organising our participation in this event.
Athletics Trials Grades 3-6
Our Athletics trials will take place on Friday 11th August at Dolamore Oval. Parents are welcome to come along and watch. Children need to bring snack, lunch, water bottle and a jacket in case of inclement weather. Thank you to Mr A for all his organisation and the staff and parent helpers for running the events.
Grade 6 Camp
Grade 6 students are heading to Creswick for their camp next Wednesday. The children will attend Sovereign Hill, as well as participate in a range of outdoor activities. Camp provides the opportunity for children to connect with each other and have a break from technology for a few days.
Thank you to the Grade 6 teachers and parents who will be attending the camp.
Children's Book Week: Monday 21st to Friday 25th August
Dress up day for book week is on Friday 25th August. Year levels will run a variety of literacy activities throughout the week.
New Water Stations
Our new Hydrobank water stations were installed last week. The water stations have 3 drinking fountains and 3 bottle refill points. The water stations look fantastic, thank you to the School and House Captains for their input into the final design.
No assembly this Friday (11th August) due to the Grade 3-6 Athletics.
