Junior School
The Inquiry Learning Focus in the Grade 1 and Grade 2 classrooms has been on dinosaurs.
Students have been exploring life on Earth during the three periods of the Mesozoic Era, which occurred… between 252 and 66 million years ago!! These periods of time are the: Triassic (252—201 million years ago); Jurassic (201 – 145 million years ago); and Cretaceous (145 to 66 million years ago).
Students have investigated the differenc between bird-hipped and lizard-hipped dinosaurs.
Explored the process of fossilisation and connected fossils (skeletons) to the dinosaur they might look like (as no one was alive to see how, exactly, these dinosaurs looked!).
Began discussing specific physical features of dinosaurs.
And, finally, students have been giving oral presentations on different dinosaurs. So far, students have covered herbivore, omnivore and carnivore dinosaurs. Wonder what will be next?
Tune in next time: our very exciting excursion to Melbourne Museum!
