Principal's Report
UNIFORM
Now that we have begun Term 3, I would like to take a moment to highlight the importance of adhering to our college uniform policy. Wearing the college uniform not only promotes a sense of belonging within our student body but also helps create a conducive environment for learning and instils a sense of professionalism to support future educational pursuits and eventual careers.
We understand that students may occasionally wear incorrect uniform due to damage to their current uniform or unintentionally wear incorrect uniform items. In such cases, we have implemented a process to address these situations promptly and effectively. If a student is found to be wearing an incorrect uniform item (without a parent note), they will be respectfully asked to remove it and replace it with the appropriate item supplied by the college.
To support students in adhering to our uniform policy, we have a limited supply of loan uniform items available at the college. These items will be provided to students on a temporary basis, ensuring they can comfortably participate in their classes while rectifying any uniform-related issues. Please note that these loan items are intended as a temporary solution and should be returned as soon as possible.
However, it is important to highlight that in situations where a student fails to comply with the uniform policy or refuses to accept the loan uniform, we will explore requesting parents to bring uniform to the college for their child or may have no choice but to have parents collect their child and take them home to rectify the issue. We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but maintaining a consistent uniform policy is essential for the overall benefit of our college community.
We kindly request your cooperation in reinforcing the importance of our college uniform policy at home. Encourage your child to take pride in their appearance and follow the guidelines provided. By working together, we can ensure a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the college uniform policy or our approach to enforcing it, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you and your child in any way we can.
NAPLAN
The 2023 NAPLAN results have been delivered to Epping Secondary College and we are pleased to share these with parents and students.
You will shortly receive, via mail, an envelope with a confidential report of the results of your child's NAPLAN results. In this envelope you will find an Individual Student Report for your child. This report allows you to see how your child is progressing in the areas of Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language and Numeracy.
This report is only a snapshot of their achievement and should be read in conjunction with school-based reports and assessments.
If you have any questions about the NAPLAN report please firstly refer to the NAPLAN website https://nap.edu.au/ or contact Epping Secondary College.
We congratulate all Year 7 and Year 9 Epping Secondary College students for their completion of NAPLAN in 2023.
PARENT SURVEY
WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
The survey is optional, but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
A random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents / caregivers / guardians have been selected to participate in this year’s survey.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023. Any parents who have been included in the random sample will receive personalised instructions on how to complete the survey in an email early next week.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
