Do all that you do with love ~

Dear Families,

I apologise for the delay in sending out this edition of the newsletter, the last week has been another busy one and time got away from us. The delay does mean that I also get to share news of our Foundation students 100 days of school celebrations with you.

100 days of school started in style, from the junior teachers donning colouful capes covered with 100 pompoms each, to specially made t-shirts and a couple of magnificent creative costumes. Honourable mentions must go to Freddy who had stuck 100 pompoms onto his old man braces holding up his pants and to Johnny who had carefully attached 100 chupa chup lollipops to his shirt. We were all wondering just how many of those lollies would still be in place at the end of the day.

Our celebrations coincided of our whole school liturgy to celebrate the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop who believed in the power of education. She dedicated her life to ensuring that every child had access to quality learning, embodying a belief that resonates deeply with our school's ethos. Just as St Mary dedicated her life to enriching the lives of young learners, we too, through our celebrations and commitment to education, strive to empower our students to reach for the stars.

The 100th day of school marked an important milestone in the lives of our students so what better way than to celebrate than with a touch of sweetness. The delight was evident as each of our Foundation/1 classes made their way to one of the designated kitchen areas to bake cupcakes. The excitement could be heard around the school, especially the admin area as JP realised that they were going to be working in the staffroom an area of the school rarely entered by the students!

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day

Friday August 4th saw a whole school free dress day with the purpose of raising money for the Opening the Doors Foundation. All money donated to the foundation goes towards supporting Aboriginal students accessing resources required for their education. Our school proudly raised $360 which can buy school uniform for a primary school child. Well done and thank you to our generous community.

Swimming News

Our Foundation to Year 2 students have recently completed their swimming program at Paul Sadler Swimland at Carrum Downs with great learning outcomes. Thanks to the parents, carers and extended family members who joined us poolside to support the children during this program.

It is now the Year 3-6 students who will be engaging in their swimming program at Casey RACE in Week 7, commencing Monday 21st August, for eight days (excluding Wednesdays). Please ensure your child is prepared with their bathers, towel and any other items in readiness for swimming.

Once again, parents and carers are welcome poolside at Casey RACE. Purchase of food items for the students and entry into the change rooms are not permitted due to Child Safe Standards.

Introducing Mrs Malini Tyne

It is with pleasure that I introduce Mrs Malini Tyne to you, our new class teacher for 2M. Malini spent the day with us in week 4 and had the opportunity to spend time with the students, both in the classroom and at the swimming pool. Please pop in and say hello, I'm sure you will offer her the same warm greeting that you extended to me when I first joined the school.

Book Week

A range of fliers have been sent home sharing the exciting events we have planned for Book Week. They are attached here for your reference as well - we can't wait to share our love of reading with you all.

Have a wonderful week!
