Assistant Principal's Report

What a fantastic couple of weeks we have had at CSPS. We have so much to celebrate!

On the Friday of the first week, Jim (Crossing Supervisor) paid us a visit. He wanted to thank everyone for the lovely send off at the end of Term 2 Assembly. He brought in a card and some lovely orchids from his garden. The entrance and office area looks lovely with the flowers on display.

Year 5 Holiday Recounts

The Year 5s have had the task of choosing a highlight from their holidays and writing a detailed holiday recount about it. The learning intention was to include as much detail as possible of the event and to use a variety of adjectives to make their writing interesting. Some students were able to experiment with different punctuation as well as sentence types, which was fantastic to see. The Year 5s had great fun talking about the adventures they got up to and lots of memorable memories were made!

The writing pieces are available to read in the front entrance of the school. There is a display and a book. Please make the time to have a read of the great writing. It highlights the high standard of work from our students.

Also, there is some great 3D artwork on display. A big thank you to Mrs Pappas for all her work at our school and for the display of both the 3D artwork and the Year 5 writing pieces. Our school looks fabulous!

Year 6 Exhibition

Please find below some photos of the fabulous Year 6 Exhibition held on Tuesday night. The Year 6 Exhibition is a student driven inquiry into a topic/issue that they are passionate about. The theme for this year was ‘Consumer Power’. Students picked their topic, became experts, acted and presented their findings to the CSPS community. It was quite the event!!

Well done to the Year 6 team, all the staff for their work as Mentors for our Year 6 students and for the great turn out and support from our community.

Please find below some of the great feedback we have received from members of our community:

I was particularly impressed by a few key areas:

  • The range of topics that people chose to inquire into was very impressive. There were a number of issues that I had not heard of or thought deeply about before, and I learnt a great deal by speaking to you.
  • You spoke so very capably and confidently. It was very noticeable how well prepared you were, and how much knowledge you had gathered over the course of your inquiry. Every question or comment I made was very expertly responded to.
  • You had such enthusiasm for your topics. This was very easy to see by the excitement on your faces as you shared your understandings.
  • Your stalls were so very engaging. The work you had done on creating a provocation was outstanding. There were so many creative and unique ideas and each of them really helped me to connect with your issue or develop my interest.
  • The friendship and connections within the Year 6 cohort were very easy to see. I was really impressed by the support that I could see you giving each other, and the way that you interacted with each other.

From a school in our network:

Several of our staff attended and from the moment we arrived we were extremely impressed. The students we spoke to were exceptionally well informed, confident and passionate about their inquiries. The provocation pieces and catchy slogans were very engaging and added further depth to their presentation.

Whole School House Reward System

It has been a pleasure to see our students be so receptive to our House Points system and working diligently to earn points for their House. A huge thank you to the Year 5 Junior School Council members for collecting, collating and announcing the winning House at Assembly. These are the results of the winning Houses so far:

First Round: Blue House (Irwin Darraks)

Second Round: Yellow House (Mauboy Warreenys)

At the conclusion of last week’s Assembly, the class that was demonstrating exceptional manners was chosen to display the House Trophy in their classroom for a week. Congratulations 4A!

Keep up the great work everyone!
