Year 8 Bridging English – Storm Boy Text and Film Study

As part of the conclusion of our film and text focus, Year 8’s completed their own memorial task. In the book/film Storm Boy’s beloved pelican, Mr Percival, dies at the hands of some nasty hunters.

Mr Percival was a very important part of Storm Boy’s life and as such the task was to create a sculpture that respected this beautiful penguin.

The Year 8 students enjoyed the opportunity to show their creative skills whilst watching a documentary about pelicans in and around our Australian landscapes. Students were given 50 minutes to come up with their best depiction of Mr Percival and were judged on Friday.
