From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Welcome to Week 7. It was great to come to school in our PJ's last Friday and enjoy a hot chocolate and muffin in the morning. A big thank you to our community volunteers who came along to serve the treats, the children certainly appreciated it.

Parking at drop off and pick up time remains an issue. Please adhere to the signage around the school and do not double park. The risk of an accident increases significantly when drivers choose to ignore rules that are in place to protect the safety of all. The council had been asked to patrol the area to ensure compliance and no doubt fines will be issued if warranted.

Please keep our Confirmation Candidates in your thoughts and prayers as they celebrate this sacrament this evening. The children will gather with their families and sponsors at the Clearview/Enfield Church and be joined by Vicar General, Fr Dean Marin who will preside over the ceremony.

On Monday, June 20, students will gather in the gym for a presentation from Camp Quality. For those who are not aware, Camp Quality is an organisation that supports families living with cancer.  At St Gabriel's, we currently have students who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis of loved ones.  The presentation is in the form of a Puppet Show, demonstrating how we can support people we know with cancer and dispelling some of the misconceptions.  There will be 2 sessions, one for the younger children followed by a session for the older boys and girls.

Refugee Week begins on Sunday 19th to Saturday 25th June.  We pray for all refugees that they can secure the safety and security  that they desperately seek.

A Refugee Week Prayer

Jesus, friend and brother,

You know how it feels to leave your home and family,

To carry nothing with you, to travel as a stranger.

Help all refugees far from home, driven out by war and hunger.

Lead them safely on.

They are our sisters and brothers.

Inspire us to show our love and a true welcome.

Amen.
