Hello and welcome to the Kilvonian Connections biannual newsletter.

For those of you who I have not met, I’m Sarah Lim and I was recently elected as the Chair of the Kilvington Alumni Committee. I first want to thank the outgoing Chair, Sarah McSwiney, who is stepping down as she was recently appointed as Chair of the Kilvington Board. Sarah McSwiney has held the inaugural position of Chair of the Kilvington Alumni Committee since 2019 and has played a pivotal role in getting it off the ground and continuing to build relationships amongst the Kilvington alumni community. The committee is pleased that Sarah will continue to hold a role on the Alumni Committee.

I started Kilvington in Year 7 and graduated in 2003. I look back on that period of my life very fondly. Kilvington was a beautiful nurturing school and, at the time, I don’t believe many of us realised how lucky we were to be part of such a special community.

Some of my oldest and dearest friends in my life also attended Kilvington. I feel very privileged to have this group of incredible women in my life. It can be weeks, months or years since our last catch up and when we finally do, it is as if nothing has changed, our friendship is still the same and we are our true selves. These are my people. They know the real me. Life milestones have come and gone. We’ve graduated from university, changed jobs, industries, partners, moved to other cities (and sometimes have returned back to Melbourne), and some have created families. Life beyond Kilvington continues.  We have been through the ups and downs together and have shared life learnings together.

Close to 20 years later when I visit Kilvington, it still has the same feeling. I wholeheartedly believe it is the values shared by the Kilvington community that help to connect us to each other.

In my role as Chair, I want to help continue to build the Kilvington community and create opportunities that foster strong relationships within. Not just within our own friendship groups or year levels but across generations of Kilvonians. The Kilvington community is diverse and multi-talented and I am driven to create an inclusive and active alumni community. You never know what friendships, partnerships or opportunities await from that serendipitous connection.

The Kilvington Alumni Committee is working on delivering a range of events over the second half of 2022 and we welcome you to join us.

Enjoy this newsletter, and the Committee and I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming Kilvonian event.
