School Council President

Hi School Community,

I hope you are all keeping well and warm as we settle into a chilly winter!

In the spirit of sharing the role of what our school community do and how you can contribute, the School Council thought it would be beneficial to regularly update you on the things we are working on to ensure the educational experiences are both enjoyable and positive for all our children! School Council plays a key role in Victorian Schools and our School Council at TSPS is particularly proud of the work we all do – providing the best possible educational outcomes for our students. As I have mentioned in most of my communications, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and we all have a part to play.

Recently, our School Council have discussed many topics relating to the needs of our school, the community and the challenges and successes we’ve had since the start of the 2022.   We have all lived through some very unprecedented times in the past couple of years, navigating through COVID and the challenges it caused; but it’s great to hear see our school is opening again, slowly but surely and our children are enjoying many more activities such as excursions, shows and not to mention Camps are back – which is very exciting!

In the upcoming newsletters, we will introduce you to all our members of School Council however by way of initial introduction they are;

  • David Gibilisco (parent) – President
  • Alex Tardif (parent) – Vice President
  • Abi Bellamkonda (parent) – Treasurer
  • Chantelle Doulis (parent)  – Councillor
  • Meenakshi Singh (parent) – Councillor
  • Caitlyn Abbey (parent) – Councillor
  • Kranthi Kummera (YMCA)  – Community Representative Councillor
  • Linda Danese – Principal
  • Cass Beckman – Assistant Principal
  • Michael Gerber – Assistant Principal
  • Heather Johnson – Business Manager

Our functions as a School Council range from establishing the broad direction and vision of our school within the community, participating in our school’s Strategic Plan and how we as a school implement it, approving budgets and monitoring our school’s expenditure, raising funds for our school projects and initiatives, entering into contracts, reviewing policies and procedures, and creating interest in our school and considering the views of our school community. We want to be your voice and ensure you get the opportunity to contribute to all these things as we do to enrich our school and provide the best opportunities to our student’s education.

If you have any ideas, questions and/or would like a chat about how you can contribute to our great school, you can contact us via email at david.gibilisco@education.vic.gov.au or any of the members of School Council. We’re looking forward to engaging and talking with you more.

Kind Regards,

David Gibilisco
