Topaz Community

Our class has started the year with enthusiastic faces everywhere. Our teachers: Nicole, Alex and Lee have had a little competition every morning to see who has the most students here in their role group. It has given students motivation to come to school and hopefully see their role group teacher win! (Don't worry, the teachers always tell us to stay home if we feel sick!) In the last few weeks of term 2, the students also organised a competition for the teachers. The spicy noodle challenge was prepared by Alisha and Angelina who both provided some extra hot homemade sauces and spices to add to an already spicy noodle mix. In all, there was no fair winner but we all had fun - well except maybe the teachers! The teachers set us a challenge afterwards to write about this experience.  We had to write a paragraph or more using the skill of 'show, don't tell'. We weren't allowed to use certain words to make it harder such as: noodles, spicy, hot and challenge. This was such a fun learning experience for the students of Topaz.
