NAIDOC Week

All this week, we nominated a different student each day who would do a Welcome or Acknowledgement to Country every morning.  Here we have Kaidyn Q taking the reins on the school P.A.

Storytelling is also such an important part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and Duke L. from year 8 helped to tell a story by reading 'A Cunning Crow' by Gregg Dreise.

In celebration of the end of our NAIDOC Week, the Koling Wada-ngal (Let us walk together) group encouraged our students to dress in traditional colours and got involved with activities and all sorts of fun on Friday.

At recess,

  • We were out the front of the Library/ Cafe area and getting students and staff to sign a pledge to Get up! Stand up! Show up!
  • There were rocks to decorate that students will imbed all around the school.

At lunch

  • The VET music students set up and played some fun music
  • A BBQ was held in the front of the canteen, so students were able to grab a snag for lunch, including for some, first time trying kangaroo sausages.
  • We also had students doing face painting as well as temporary tattoos.
