Senior School

Wingham Beef Week
At the beginning of Week 7 students from Year 7 - 10 headed off for Wingham Beef Week. The students teamed up with Manilla Central School and helped care and prepare the steers for the show throughout the week. They participated in a variety of activities including an educational morning hosted by the University of New England, Junior Judging and Parading. The students did an excellent job of leading Manilla's cattle in the paraders. Junior Judging proved to be tricky and there is plenty of room for improvement, which will be a focus leading up to the shows in the latter part of the year. Adam Nordstrom was was nominated for the prestigious Hobbs Encouragement Award. As part of this award Adam participated in a panel interview going up against students 2 and 3 years older than him and was awarded Highly Commended for his efforts.
Years 9 & 10 STEM Challenges
Students in 9/10 STEM Challenges have been studying aerodynamics and forces this semester. This has culminated in designing and building balsa wood dragsters. The dragsters are propelled by a carbon dioxide cartridge. Our first runs have seen the dragsters achieve speeds around 75km/h!
