John XXIII Netball Club Singapore Tour

Over the school holidays, 19 Years 10 and 11 girls had the exciting opportunity to represent John XXIII College playing netball in Singapore.

For five days, we played competitive schools around Singapore and experienced a new culture of sportsmanship.

The Singapore Sports School, St Andrew’s College, Chinese Girls School and Singapore Netball Academy were all tough competitors which ended in several close games.   Despite the lack of height in many teams, the skills of our competitors definitely pushed us to improve and reevaluate our own gameplay.  Playing the Singaporean girls definitely proved a physical challenge as we were pushed to play with quicker, more agile opponents.

When we weren’t playing netball, we visited some amazing landmarks and locations, including Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown, Sentosa Island and the Night Zoo.

We are enormously grateful to have travelled under the guidance of Milissa, Jacinta, Alisha and Ms Power. This was an experience we’ll never forget!

While playing Netball was the focus of the Singapore Tour, fostering friendships, building relationships across year groups and experiencing another culture were also very important.  It was fabulous to watch the friendships develop over the duration of the trip.

The girls played extremely well despite the heat and humidity and were rewarded with three wins out of four games. They were a credit to their School, Club and families. We would like to thank them for being such great sportswoman and making our time enjoyable. We would also like to that Alisha Allen and Jodi Power for their support and efforts over the course of the trip.

We are looking forward to next time!
