Adults - $20

Students/ Children/ Concession and Seniors - $10

Family (2 Adults and 2 Children/Students/Concession/Seniors) - $45

Students were involved in a non-residential 2 day camp in May where we got to see the show come together; doing full runs throughs of the show so that all involved could see how amazing and hardworking the cast and crew have been.  We will also have a full day of rehearsals in the first week back of term 3.

A massive special mention to Harriet Rowsell who has taken on the role of Dorothy Gale and has been at every single rehearsal this year so far. Also, being in 8B, a SEAL class, she has taken on the role with maturity, dedication and is always making the rehearsals a fun place to be.

We also require parent and student assistance with the painting of sets this year. If you are interested or know of anyone who is, please contact Sarah Mortimer on the following details:

Interested in learning a musical instrument?

There are a limited number of additional spaces in the College Instrumental Music program for Semester 2 for the following instruments:

Brass - trumpet and trombone

Voice

Woodwind - flute, clarinet and saxophone

Strings - violin, viola and cello

Instrumental Music lessons occur on a rotating timetable during class time. This minimises the chance of students missing the same class more than once a month. All students are expected to participate in at least one ensemble, with rehearsals occurring during lunchtime or after school. The semester levy is $200, which covers the costs of delivering the program including purchasing/maintaining instruments and equipment, photocopying and the like. There are also limited numbers of instruments available for hire from the college for $100 per semester.

For further information or to request a place in the Instrumental Music program, please contact Ms Laura Baker-Goldsmith (Head of Performing Arts) on 9571 7838 or lbg@gec.vic.edu.au

Semester 1 Music Concert

On Monday 3rd June, the GEC instrumental music department showcased instrumental music students from Years 7-11 at our Semester 1 Concert. The focus for the evening was our beginning students as well as our diverse range of ensembles.

There was a huge variety of performances from solo clarinet and piano and small groups of beginning students, to large-scale ensembles with our guitar, strings, vocal and percussion students. The evening was truly a celebration of a busy semester of music.

It was a busy evening for our 7B and 8B instrumental students who were also participating in the World Scholar’s Cup on the same night. There was definitely some quick running across the quadrangle to and from the PAC!

Thank you to all of the Instrumental Music teachers who work tirelessly throughout the semester to help prepare students for this performance evening, and many other formal and informal performance opportunities throughout the year. We look forward to our Gala Concert coming up in term 3!

Ms Zamarah Morley - strings

Ms Charlene Wijaya - piano

Ms Tori Wood - voice

Mr Robert Westlake - guitar and bass

Mr Mark Voogd - drums and percussion

Mr Mark Dipnall - woodwind

Mr George Hronakis - brass

Thank you also to all of the college staff who assisted with or otherwise attended the evening, particularly Mrs Kindler for being our MC for the evening, Ms Marks for all her assistance with the tickets as well as Ms Cowley and her amazing photography students Vas Dabos and Marcus Georgiou for being our official photographers. Thank you also to all instrumental music students and their family and friends for their attendance and support of the Performing Arts at GEC.

Ensembles

There are a number of ensembles that are open to all College students, regardless of learning an instrument at the school! They include:
