Toiletry Collection

On the Grand Final Public Holiday we visited the Cornerstone Contact Centre in Dandenong to donate all the boxes of toiletry items that WHPS collected. Gloria & Morris greeted us and helped us carry thirteen heavy boxes into a storeroom. As we were walking, we spotted a mobile shower called ‘Clean as Casper’ and a mobile laundry van which had a washer and a dryer. It was heart-breaking to witness the Homeless line up to take the rare luxury of a shower and also to get their clothes washed and dried.

Since it was Friday, the soup kitchen had a barbecue spread laid out and many homeless people were helping themselves to the food. We stepped into the store room and saw numerous cans of food that other people had donated. Together in total our school collected 2213 toiletry items altogether!

It was heartening to note that while the storage room had food items stocked, there weren’t ANY toiletries. So Gloria and Morris were really appreciative of our donations.
