PROGRAM NEWS

VACATION CARE PROGRAM

We had a very successful program in September that was enjoyed by many children from our School and the wider community.

Below are some of the highlights :

WOODWORK DAY – the children made a range of woodwork creations with moving parts such as Helicopter and landing pads and amazing Birdhouses. They used real tools such as hammers, drills, and nails and decorated with paint.

PHILLIP ISLAND – the children enjoyed a scenic bus trip down to the Island Chocolate Factory where they got to do a tour of the factory and learn how chocolate is made. Chocolate samples were also enjoyed by all.

Lunch was on the Cowes Beach were they enjoyed a game of beach cricket and exploring for treasures on the shore.

FOOTY DAY – our children went to Glen Waverley Sth Primary School and participated with children from Glen Waverely Sth and Vermont Primary Schools in football activities. These activities included marking and handballing games, training drills and a game of football. In the afternoon after a lunch of hotdogs and cupcakes the children made team flags and pompoms.

MAM DOJO’S COMEDY SHOW – Comedian Sean Murphy came to entertain the children with his comedy show “Gameboy”. The show saw the kids being taught games from around the world including China, Sth Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

CHESTERFIELD FARM – students got to enjoy a tractor ride around the farm seeing the many different kinds of animals from Donkey’s to Emu’s. We learnt how to milk a Cow as well as feeding many of the different animals on offer

INTO THE WILD – we explored the Dandenong Ranges and learnt about how the Indigenous People used and lived off the land. This was followed with some hands on activities such as using emu feathers in bunches for hair decorations or to decorate the top of a walking stick.
