Kimberley Immersion

Kimberley Immersion

Here are some of the thoughts from the students who participated in our recent immersion to Kununurra:

"Going on the Kimberley Immersion was unmistakably one of the best decisions I have made so far at SNC. It was a remarkable journey for engaging with the close-knit Kununurra community and for  personal self-reflection."                                                                                                                             Frances Macapili

"The places we helped out at included a soup kitchen, picture garden, primary school, aged care facility and a youth program. The primary school was especially interesting as it was the place we spent most of our time and this allowed us to develop strong connections with the children."       Aldric Ratnasekera

"The Kimberly Immersion was a very memorable and eye-opening experience. Throughout the whole trip, I was able to gain an insight into and understanding of the lifestyles and living conditions of the Aboriginal communities in Kununurra. I was able to connect and form new friendships with many people who I would never expect to form friendships with. By the end of the immersion, I was able to truly reflect my values and attitudes towards others and life. This has helped me to understand myself better and the changes I need to make to become a better person."                                                  Maria Lunas

"I had a really good time with the teachers and the kids that went with me on the immersion. It was also nice to go and make some friends at St Joseph's and also help them with their school work but then it was sad when we had to leave and come back to Perth."                                                                   Declan Sinclair

"My Kimberley Immersion experience is one that I will likely remember for the rest of my life, and rightly so because it was deeply humbling and eye–opening. Seeing such friendly and optimistic people supporting each other no matter what the circumstances contributed to a wonderfully heart–warming feeling that I would like everyone to encounter."                                                                             Yajnah Juggessur

"A highlight for me was the Save the Children charity as I met so many bright children who inspired me to connect and immerse myself in everything that I do and I believe they are destined for great things."

Gracie Farrar

"Visiting Kununurra on the Kimberley Immersion was truly unforgettable. There really is no way to describe how fantastic the experience was in words. The immersion provided the opportunity to not only become involved in the rich culture and community, but to see the amazing landscapes and environments of this beautiful part of the world."                                                                              Oscar McDonald

Our thanks to the St Norbert College Parent Committee and Horizons West Bus and Coach Lines for their sponsorship in making this program such an invaluable one for our students.
