Careers News

Year 12

Year 12 interviews, where I discuss plans and options for each student, answer questions and provide information to assist them in making decisions, have commenced in recent weeks.

University applications and Early Entry Schemes at some universities will be opening much earlier this year and students will shortly be receiving information from UAC and their UAC PIN.

Information has been shared with Year 12 students asking them to keep these points in mind:

1) always use your non-school email account and ensure it is a suitable one

2) ensure NESA details are up to date and match the details provided on applications to universities (eg full name, correct address etc)

3) make note of relevant dates on a year planner or calendar

4) check emails and take responsibility for making sure you read careers newsletters, morning announcements so you do not miss out on opportunities and events.

Career Opportunity

Year 12 student Lauren Hutchinson followed up by applying to attend a recent event.  Here is what Lauren wrote:

Defence Force Recruiting International Women’s Day Experience

On Friday 8 March 2019, I was  one of the twenty selected from two hundred applications to participate in International Women’s Day Experience through Defence Force Recruiting. It involved a tour of HMAS Kuttabul in Potts Point, Sydney. We got to see active navy ships docked and the dry dock where all the construction, repairs, painting and maintenance goes on. After that, we boarded boats and travelled across the harbour and under the bridge to Spectacle Island, which was filled with two hundred years of military history. For lunch, we ate in the cadets mess and after listened to speeches from women currently serving in the ADF and the paths they took to get there. Overall, it was a very rewarding and worthwhile experience to show what lifestyle is possible in the ADF.
