Records Tumble at Swimming Carnival

There were some very fast times swum at the McCarthy Catholic College Swimming Carnival on Thursday 28 February. Congratulations to the following students who broke swimming records.  

Connor Roberts amazingly broke six records, 50m Breastroke in 33.13 seconds, 50 metre butterfly in 26.69 seconds, 50m backstroke in 30.38 seconds, 100m freestyle in 58.12 seconds 100m breastroke in 111.08 seconds and 200 Iindividual Medley in 219.76 seconds. 

For the Boys 12 years: Achille Monet broke two records, 50m freestyle in 33.61 seconds, 100m freestyle in 113.62

Girls 17 years: Lyndell Boschma, 100m freestyle in 113.56 seconds

Girls 13 years: Sienna Marzato, 100m freestyle in 112.3 seconds.

 

Diocesan Swimming Carnival

On Thursday 14 March the Diocesan Swimming carnival was held at Gunnedah swimming pool. Twenty-five students from McCarthy Catholic College attended the carnival and all students swam well and had a really enjoyable day. Connor Roberts won every race he entered and dominated the competition. A big congratulations to our three students who were Diocese Age Champions; Isabella Bolsom 12 year girls', Achille Monet 13 year boys' and Sienna Mazato 13 year girls' Age Champions. Thank you to Mrs Monet who did a great job as team manager and the following students who represented the College on the day; Oscar Newsome, Connor Roberts, Augustin Monet, Clementine Monet, Savannah Barber, Edward George, Hallie Berton, Achille Monet, Isabella Bolsom, Abigail Taggart, Daisy George, Lyndell Boschma, Matilda U’Ren, Eddie Willis, Claudia Cartan, Kilian Apen, Sienna Marzato, Annabel Kelly,  Emma Rumble, Lucy-Kate Thompson,  Emma Percy,  Jasmin Stackman, Lawson Thompson,  Will George, and Connor Lavender.

Congratulations to the following students who made NSWCCC Swimming to compete at the NSWCCC Swimming Championships at Homebush on 5 April. Edward George, Lyndell Boschma, Matilda U'Ren, Clementine Monet, Eddie Willis, Sienna Marzato, Achille Monet, Isabella Bolsom, Emma Rumble, Connor Roberts, Daisy George, Augustine Monet. 

Under 15 Diocese Rugby League trials

On Tuesday 5 March 2019, five students from McCarthy were involved in the Armidale Diocese Under 15 Rugby League trials at Jack Woolaston Oval, Tamworth. After a good warm-up all boys were fit and raring to go in a game comprising of players from St Mary’s, Gunnedah, O’Connor Catholic College, Armidale and Holy Trinity, Inverell. All players on the field were of a high standard and a great game of football was played. The students from McCarthy were Sebastian Lawler, Liam Nicholson, Miller Lloyd, Rowan O’Reilly and Maxwell Smith. Congratulations to all five students who were named in the team to participate in the Armidale/Lismore Rugby League selection trials to be held at Woodlawn College Lismore on March 19. The boys represented the College proudly displaying great sportsmanship and teamwork. Well done and good luck at the upcoming trials.

Winter Netball Competition

Please note that 2019 Netball registration (online payment and rego note to school) is due by Friday 22 March as per TNA competition rules. Payment can be made online with a credit or debit card which includes the TNA fee, NSW Netball fee, winter comp and McCarthy Club fee which totals $180. Unlike previous years, late payments will not be accepted.

McCarthy Catholic College is now an approved Active Kids provider since 14 March. Clicking the below link will cover all the above fees. Active kids vouchers will be accepted on this link, please follow the prompts and use your active kids voucher from Service NSW.

There are plans to have a buy, swap and sell day of the McCarthy Netball uniform on Friday 5 April at McCarthy. If you have a netball uniform at home that you no longer need, please bring it in and the committee will sell it on your behalf (we recommend $10-$15 per piece, depending on the condition).
