Learning In Focus - Arts

Once again our artists and performers have had to face the challenge of working from home as we were thrown in to yet another lockdown.  This has certainly proven difficult for our senior students who were in the midst of completing folios for their final assessments. We are so proud of the way that these students have adapted and we look forward to being able to showcase their work to the community later in the year.  Our junior students have enjoyed the opportunity to get away from screens and engage in some art making during their visual arts lessons.  Year 8s have undertaken photo scavenger hunts and utilised materials from their homes to explore the elements of art and once again impress us with their creativity.

Our musical cast were only a few days away from performing when the latest lockdown was announced so understandably it was a huge disappointment for all involved.  These students have shown incredible resilience and have continued to inspire one another with hope and positivity.  We are currently exploring all possible options for performances later in the year and we look forward to being able to present this funny and kooky show once it is deemed safe to do so. Behind the scenes so much work has gone into organising “The Addams Family” so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the work of the production team which includes Mr David Graham, Mr Michael Perryman, Ms Jacinta Ashby, Ms Anne Aldis and Ms Tamara Hughes. These teachers have given up countless hours to prepare our students and organise sets and costumes for what will be an amazing show.  In the weeks prior to the lockdown there were also a number of other teachers and students who had been busy assisting with various facets of the show so I also acknowledge and thank them for their efforts.
