AMEB Results

Congratulations to all our string students who recently took their AMEB exams - we were able to squeeze them in just before the lockdown with an examiner who didn’t have to come from Sydney! Mrs Moxey was delighted at the excellent results. All students who took an exam received a B or above. This is an outstanding effort from everyone.

Musicians at Work, Even in Lockdown!

Here’s are some of our hardworking musicians at work in lockdown.

Angelina McRae working hard with Mrs Moxey in her virtual lesson!

Daniel Kerdic recently joined our Junior Concert Band and is showing his fantastic reading skills already. Well done Daniel!

Charlotte Gurr has also been enjoying playing her piano whilst in lockdown. Please enjoy her performance of ‘Safari’.

Ella Kerdic submitted her passion project on the flute. Please enjoy her fabulous iMovie about the history of the flute and some beautiful playing.

Mia Martin performing “A Note for School”. Thanks to Mrs Callaughan for sharing this performance with us.

I encourage parents to send in a video of students performing an item. This is a great way of keeping students focused during this remote learning time and to share some of the pieces they have prepared for their AMEB exams. Please email or share videos with me directly at ksinclair@kws.nsw.edu.au

Year 4 Instrumental Program

Although we are in remote learning, please encourage students to practice their instruments where practical and possible. I will be posting some useful tips and tutorials in the Year 4 TEAMS page later this week for students to use. If something goes wrong with the instrument whilst at home, please reach out to the me for assistance. If in doubt, please do not try to fix instruments as sometimes more damage can be done!

We have already successfully trialled ‘break-out’ rooms last week for each of our tutorial groups and will do so again this week with some of our tutors joining us.

Dancing Fun

Let’s face it, lockdown is not all that much fun when we miss our friends and teachers! However, here’s a little bit of joy from two of our younger students, Ivy and Eddie Chapman, who were both concentrating very hard to follow a dance to the music of Hungarian Dance No.5 by Brahms. I was super impressed with their concentration and enjoyed watching big brother helping with the dance moves. They even managed to share their dance space too! Great job Chapmans!

VIRTUAL ORCHESTRA

Students in Junior String Orchestra should keep an eye out for information regarding an exciting project we are beginning with some of our music students to put together a virtual orchestra. Watch this space!
