School Council subcommittee meetings

Our school has a number of permanent working groups called sub-committees. These groups are made up of staff members and dedicated parents who meet ten times a year with a focus to make our school a better place.

Sub-committees are open for anyone to join and rely on the energy, ideas and hard work of parents to improve the school experience for all of our students.

Due to the current lockdown, this week's meetings are all taking place via Zoom. Please feel very welcome to drop in and attend a meeting if you are interested.

Book Donations needed

As you might be aware, the fundraising activities that the school are undertaking this year are all to support the creation of classroom libraries in all learning spaces at SKiPPS.

These libraries will be small, visually attractive spaces within each room which are stocked with high quality fiction and non-fiction books to engage children with the magic of reading.

We know that the more a child reads, the better their cognitive development, vocabulary acquisition and educational and life outcomes. Reading high-quality literature from a young age inspires them as thinkers and writers and builds their overall understanding and engagement with the world.

Whilst we have raised (and hope to raise) thousands of dollars to purchase great books for these libraries, we could obviously do with a helping hand.

We know that, as children grow-up, families are often left with books that they no longer have use (or space) for.

If you have done a clearout of your child's bookshelves or bedroom (or are about to use lockdown to do this), then instead of dropping these off to a charity, we would love these donated to the school. We will then decide which year level they are best suited for and get them into classroooms to be read and loved all over again.

We would appreciate any good quality picture story books, non-fiction titles or children's novels still in a good condition (no torn pages, stains or other signs of over-use!). These can be dropped off to the office at any point and would be greatly appreciated.
