School Review Community Workshops

As we shared in our last school newsletter, Currently SKiPPS is undertaking a school review.

This is an open process where we reflect on where we are, what we are doing well, what we could be doing better and where we should focus our attentions for the next 4 years.

A key part of this process is to work with parents and carers to get their views on our school and ask some 'big picture' questions about our values, our priorities and our future direction.

We would love for as many parents and carers as possible to attend an online Zoom workshop this week where we will work in small groups to unpack some of these ideas and gather your views.

These will then directly inform our planning for the next four years.

We are running two sessions at diffferent times which we hope will fit around your work and childcare commitments;

If you can help us, we would appreciate it is you could register for a workshop at forms.gle/Jn1wPY9zdzZCvajs6 so we know how many participants to prepare for.

Parent Gala Night Postponed

In the last newsletter we shared the exciting news that we were planning our annual parent Trivia/Gala event for Saturday 4th September. This evening was to be the central community and school fundraising event of the year. We had an 'Intergalactic' theme lined up, live music, delicious food and drink and tickets were flying off the shelves.

With the current lockdown situation, we clearly cannot run the event as planned and so have postponed this.

We are currently trying to find a suitable alternate date later in the year and will confirm these arrangements (and desparately cross our fingers) when we have confirmed this with the St Kilda Town Hall.

A huge thank you to those many parents who supported the event by buying tickets already. These will still be valid for the re-arranged date. in the event that we cannot proceed with the Gala night this year, we will process refunds for all ticket holders.

With the postponement of this fundraiser, we would love for families to support our more Covid-safe fundraising activities - our merchandise and the pavers. Details on how to get involved can be found later in the newsletter.

Parents Footy cancelled

We also sadly received news this week that the Bayside Parents Footy competition, which was scheduled for August 28th, has also had to be cancelled for 2021.

This is a shame as our new-look team were hard in training and ready to win back the trophy for the first time since 2013.

The competition will be back in 2022 and I would ike to thank those parents who got involved and were willing to put their bodies on the line for SKiPPS!

Sports Shed completed

We were excited to put the finishing touches to our new sports shed over the last couple of weeks. After a construction process compolicatd by our various lockdowns, it was great to complete all construction steps and paint the new shed.

Having the shed has already made a huge difference to our teachers and students who now have easy access to their sports equipment from the oval at all times.

The shed has been a labour of love for our Buildings and Grounds sub-committee and I would again like to thank Paul Yates, Greg Manonian and Damon Van Horne for their building skills in contructing the shed and to Marko Vukobrat, Mathew Saliba and Nemanja Milovanovic for always being ready to help out during this process.
