Organic Waste Facility

On Thursday 12th September, the Year 8 Learning Team Leaders, Student Council Representatives and College and Vice Captains went on a tour of the Sacyr Organic Waste Facility. Beforehand, we went to the Bayside City Council Centre and met Faina, Clare and the Mayor of Bayside, who gave us a presentation about e-waste, organic waste and how to recycle properly. Then we went on a minibus to the facility in Dandenong where we met Carlos who showed us around. We learnt about how compost was made and what kind of things are found in a green waste bin, that shouldn’t be there. Overall, it was a great day and we all learnt a lot more about recycling and organic waste.

U13 National Hockey Championships Hobart -  Ashton Williams

During the school holidays Ashton headed to Hobart as part of the U13 Victorian 1st Hockey team.

11 games over 7 days (with one rest day) was a busy schedule.

After starting the tournament with a 1:1 draw, they all lifted and played really well, showing how well they had trained leading into the tournament. Losing only one game on the second last day, they bounced back on the last morning winning 3-0, and finished top of the table and claiming the gold medal for Victoria.

Ashton plays as a goalie which is the last line of defence. It’s a crucial position and requires lots of mental concentration as well as quick responses. During the entire tournament he only conceded one goal. Congratulations Ashton!
