AFL Physical Education Program Yrs1-4

This term Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 will have the opportunity to participate in the AFL Physical Education program in Term 1. This will take place on a Friday starting in Week 4 and run for 5 weeks. (Week 4-Week 8) Students will be participating in a five week AFL program aimed at introducing students to some of the core skills of AFL through fun, engaging and modified games and activities that are aligned with curriculum outcomes.

This program will be delivered by AFLNSW Development officers with the support of classroom teachers. Through movement experiences students also develop self-management and interpersonal skills to support them to strive for enhanced performance and participation in a lifetime of physical activity so we are looking forward to this incursion!

2020 St Joseph's Primary Swimming Carnival

14 February 2020

Our school Swimming carnival will be held on Friday 14 February 2020 at Corrimal Public pool.  The event will be for swimmers who can competently swim 50m or more without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool. There will be no 25m events due to time restraints.

While the day is about participation and enjoyment for the sport, a second purpose of the Swimming Carnival is to select a group of students to represent St Joseph’s at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival. For this reason it is important that all races are completed in the half day time allocation. Therefore this carnival is for Years 3-6 50m swimmers and any YEAR 2 students turning 8 in 2020 who can competently swim/race 50m.

All other students will remain at school, but are invited to wear their sport uniform with their house colour t-shirt (optional) to participate in some physical activities during the day.

If your child will be attending and you have not giving consent online, please do this immediately. Remember that the age division your child will be competing in will be the age your child turns in 2020.

Backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events will run in Junior (8-10), 11yrs and Senior (12-13) divisions, not age division. Please ensure when entering your child in these events that they can competently swim/race 50m.

Thank you to the parent who have volunteered to assist on the day. Job allocations are being finalized and will be shared early next week.
