Principal's Message

Welcome

I warmly welcome all of our families to the 2020 school year.  At St Joseph’s, our focus is on providing a quality Catholic education for every student. Growth in faith and improvement in learning for each student is our work and the work we do in partnership with parents.

Students have settled into classes from Year 1 to Year 6. I have enjoyed catching up with many students and parents out on the playground in the morning or after school over the last week. Thank you for your warm welcome back to school.

KINDERGARTEN 2020

Tomorrow we welcome our newest Kindergarten students. I imagine there are many children who are very excited and a little nervous too. Their induction into school life began back in October with 8 sessions of playgroup and a parent information night. They will begin their days over the next two weeks with a familiar playgroup session in the hall before going into classrooms afterwards.

MEETING TEACHERS

Teachers have begun the Meet and Greets with parents and are pleased to begin the building of strong and positive relationships with families, for their students. Parents and always very welcome to meet with teachers throughout the year so please don’t feel you need to wait for our more formalised meetings. Teachers are also very willing to speak with parents over the phone. All you need to do is email or phone the school office and the office staff will let the relevant teacher know.

As always, Mr Aguilera, as the Assistant Principal, and I are very happy to meet with parents if you have a concern for your child. Contact the school office to arrange a time.

OPENING SCHOOL MASS

Our Opening Mass for the year will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30am in the church with Fr Patrick Vaughan. Students from Year 3 to Year 6 will attend and families are very welcome to celebrate the Eucharist with us. The Year 6 Captains, Vice Captains and House captain will also be inducted and awarded their badges. Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 who have a brother or sister who is a Captain will also be invited to the mass. It is with regret that we are unable to host the whole school in the church as our numbers are too large.

I pray that together we will all be willing to find God each day, in this place and in the people of St Joseph’s. Have a wonderful week.

For all things at St Joseph’s, give thanks!
