CANTEEN NEWS

Unfortunately, due to the lack of sushi orders on Mondays, as from next Monday, 24 October, sushi will no longer be available. Furthermore, when ordering plain or any sushi which is not as advertised on the menu, an even number of handrolls must be ordered.

Thank you,

LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL NEWS

OAKLEIGH STATION

I am writing to provide you with an update on works associated with the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project.

The Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project will be carrying out essential works to remove level crossings, construct elevated tracks and rebuild stations at Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Clayton and Noble Park. It will provide new and improved rail infrastructure which includes power and signalling upgrades along the 72 kilometres of rail line, from Southern Cross Station to Pakenham and Cranbourne.

Oakleigh Station Portman Street car park will temporarily close in stages on the dates shown below so we can begin work to dig trenches for services cables:

Stage 1 from 7pm Thursday 13 October – 4.30am Monday 7 November 2016

Stage 2 full car park closure from 7pm Saturday 15 October – 4.30am Monday 17 October 2016

Stage 3 from 7pm Saturday 5 November – 4.30am Monday 28 November 2016

Stage 4 full car park closure 7pm Friday 11 November – 4.30am Monday 14 November 2016.

Although the staged closures will begin at 7pm, please note the following options:

  • It will be possible to exit with your vehicle until midnight on the day of the closure
  • If your car is left in the car park beyond midnight, we may be required to relocate your vehicle within the station car park to ensure no damage is caused
  • If your car is left in the car park after the 48-hour notification it will be relocated to a secure facility outside the station car park.

To ensure no loss of parking for rail customers, Huntingdale Station car park has been extended to provide 80 additional car spaces.

These works will involve temporarily relocating the Oakleigh Station taxi rank on Portman Street from Friday 14 October to Monday 14 November. The shared use path from the eastern end of Oakleigh Station car park will also close from Sunday 16 October to early December 2016.

What to expect

  • Work crews, temporary fencing and machinery in and around the Oakleigh Station Portman Street car park
  • Traffic control measures for access to the rail corridor from Paddington Street and Oakleigh Station car park
  • Work activities occurring during normal construction hours 7am - 6pm Monday – Friday and 7am- Saturday
  • Short periods of medium- to high-level noise during saw cutting, excavation and trenching activities.

In addition to the above changes, please note changes to car parking and pedestrian access as follows:

  • Train replacement bus interchange will require suspension of on-street parking on Sir John Monash Drive at Caulfield Station from 11pm Saturday 15 October to 5am Monday 17 October
  • Up to 10 car spaces will close at Huntingdale Station car park from 7pm Saturday 15 October to 5am Monday 17 October.
  • Clayton Station Haughton Road car park (eastern end) will be closed from 7pm Saturday 15 October to late December 2016. A temporary footpath diversion on both sides of the Clayton Road level crossing will also be required from 11pm Saturday 15 October to 5am Monday 17 October. Please follow diversion signs in place on Clayton Road.
  • Westall Station Rayhur Street car park will be temporally closed on Saturday 15 October to 5am Monday 17 October due to train replacement bus services.
