Returning to School

This past couple of weeks our ABCs and Aleph students have been back at school and have had the run of the place.  Having the sound of joyful voices back in the classrooms and playground has been wonderful.  Now, we're looking forward to welcoming everyone else back this Tuesday, June 9.  Hopefully they are excited about it as we are.

We do need to keep a few things in mind that help ensure the safety of our students and staff.

  • Students should be in their winter uniform.  Sports uniform should be worn on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • All students will need a drink bottle from home.  Drinking fountains cannot be used.  We do have bottle refill stations.
  • All items taken home at the start of the learning-at-home period should be returned to school including iPads, laptops, headphones, PACEs and other workbooks.  IT support will be at school on Tuesday to assist with the connecting of Year 9/10 laptops to the school network.
  • We’ll be doing lots of handwashing.  This will be our preferred method of keeping hands free of germs as per health department recommendations.
  • Please make hand washing part of your routine before you leave the house to get on the bus or in the car for school.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available when soap and water isn’t practical.
  • Some students are sensitive to soaps and sanitiser.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you have concerns in this area.
  • We’ll be implementing government guidelines around physical distancing, however, there is an acknowledgement that sometimes it won’t be possible in a classroom
  • We’ll have progressive cleaning happening throughout the day.  Door handles and other high-touch surfaces will be regularly wiped down.
  • Both our buses will be up and running again.  Those students riding the bus should have received an EdSmart notice from the school with all the details

We know that the period of learning at home has been a great challenge for some.  The return to school may also be unsettling and difficult.  Parents, if there is anything we can do to help your child make the adjustment, please be sure to let us know.  We're here to help.
