Uniforms

Now that students have returned from remote learning, it is important that all students wear the correct uniform. The upcoming school holidays provide a good time to replace any items that are getting too small or worn.

Students are to be in full school uniform before they arrive at school.  This will ensure that our college is represented with distinction whilst students are travelling to and from school.

As we head into winter, please be reminded that jumpers must be the Glen Eira College design only. Hoodies or jumpers of any other style will be confiscated by staff and returned at the end of the day.  If students require an additional layer for warmth, a plain white t-shirt is permissible.  Any plain white t-shirt (i.e. no logos or designs) must be worn as an undershirt only and must not show below the sleeve or below the hemline.

Similarly, tights that are opaque black in colour (60 – 80 denier) may be worn but only with the skirt. Please be reminded that all dresses and skirts should be of an appropriate length - no shorter than 5cm above the knee. The college skirt may be worn with either tights or black socks but not both.

Nails must be of a reasonable length to participate in the curriculum safely.  Students who choose to have fake nails can only do so if they are short and of neutral colour. Long nails are a safety issue and will be addressed by year level coordinators. Makeup and coloured nail polish are not part of the uniform and must not be worn. Natural coloured foundation with SPF is the only permissible makeup.

Socks must be plain black with no logos and must cover the ankles.

Students should not wear jewellery to school other than a watch and a max of 2 pairs of studs or sleepers in the ears only.

Attendance

Be on time – learning begins at 9! It is important for students to arrive at school by 8:45am. This gives students time to collect their books from their locker and make their way to their first lesson.

We know that life occasionally makes promptness difficult. If your child is going to be late for any reason, please use the school absence line on 9571 4178. Alternatively, write a note or email the school at the following address: glen.eira.co@education.vic.gov.au

Daily attendance is important for all young people to succeed in education and to ensure they do not fall behind both socially and developmentally. Minimum 95% attendance is expected from all students in all year levels. School participation maximises life opportunities for young people by providing them with education and support networks. School helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values that set them up for further learning and participation in their community.

Course Counselling

Senior school course counselling has begun with information about accelerating to VCE being provided to Year 9 students this week and next week. Year 10 and 11, 2021 counselling will begin in earnest from week 3 next term. The Senior School Handbook will be made available shortly. An online information session for parents will be delivered early next term.
