Junior School Council News

This week the Junior School Council members met to discuss how we can help to make a difference within our community as we enter Term Three. A discussion was held around how the situation with coronavirus has impacted upon everyone, especially the homeless and those who are less fortunate.

Therefore, the JSC and our school have partnered with Dandenong Ranges Emergency Relief Service (DRERS) and are asking members of our community to take part in supporting the homeless who live within our local community.

As DRERS supply our school's weekly breakfast program, we are proud to say that we have the chance to give a little in return.

Please refer to the .pdf below, which provides you with an overview of the project.

2020 School Council Subcommittees

School Council met for our third meeting of the year on Monday 15th June. It was good to be back at the table together (socially distanced of course!) to re-group and talk about priorities for the remainder of the year.

As part of this meeting, the council subcommittees were formed for the year. Subcommittees assist school council by helping to identify, research and make recommendations to school council on their areas of responsibility. Subcommittees have an important advisory role, and all decision making responsibility stays with the school council.

Subcommittee membership is open to all members of the school community- you do not have to be a member of School Council to join one. So, if there is a subcommittee in which you have an interest, passion or expertise, please become involved. We would love to have your input!

All subcommittees will be having their first meetings in the next month to identify activities for the remainder of the year.

The next school council meeting will be held on Monday 27th July. Members of the community are welcome to attend school council meetings as observers with prior approval from the Principal and subject to confidentiality requirements.

As the social environment around us continues to be ever changing I continue to feel grateful for how responsive our school has been during these challenging times. I still can’t decide if it feels too soon to be having school holidays yet or if I’m looking forward to having them all home again…I’m sure by day two of the holidays I’ll have a decision on that one!!

As always, if you have queries, suggestions or feedback about any school council functions, please feel free to email.
