Teaching and Learning

Welcome Back

We would like to extend a heartfelt welcome back to our Senior School students and wish to commend them on their ability to adapt and continue the momentum they built towards their learning prior to isolation.  Their commitment and dedication to their remote learning has been admirable and we at St. Joseph’s College are truly proud of the learning and resilience they have displayed.

Please note the following key dates of which we are now able to confirm:

GAT: Wednesday 9th September

Performance / Oral Exams:

Monday 12th October -  Sunday 8th November

Written Exams:

Monday 9th November – Wednesday 2nd December

Timetable for VCAA written exams will be released before the end of Term 2.

There are a number of emails that have been forwarded to students that contain information pertaining to future tertiary studies, TAFE courses and employment opportunities.  Please ensure notice of this correspondence and engagement in the opportunities that are being afforded via these establishments is encouraged.

As Senior School Leaders, as always, we are here to support families as you navigate your way through the final years of schooling.  We welcome your questions and communication on any and all matters.  We look forward to continuing to work alongside you as we guide students through the experience.

VCAL and AEL Students

Welcome back to all the VCAL and AEL students.  We are looking forward to an adventurous and productive second half of the Term.  However, remote learning did not stop the VCAL and AEL programs from still working on applied learning tasks within their own homes.  Students undertook a range of projects, focusing on their VET subjects and using the transferable skills to complete these projects. The diverse range of projects include:

Designing and making an office study area or gym.

Designing and building garden beds.

Making a range of fishing equipment.

Renovating the shed.

Painting the outside of the home.

Developing and working on home fitness regimes.

Planning, preparing and cooking a meal for their family.

All these tasks were hands-on and cover-off a range employability skills, as well as addressing the outcomes in their programs.
