In each edition of ‘Connections’ we acknowledge our student stars. These students are nominated by their teachers for exceptional work, effort or acting in a way that is consistent with our school values (relationships, teamwork, responsibility and respect). Congratulations to our first stars for 2021.

Joseph Jacob- Year 7

Joseph has made a brilliant start to the year and has settled into life at Healesville High School particularly well. Ms Dell nominated Joseph for his enthusiastic and dedicated approach towards his Mathematics study. Joseph is working hard and aiming high- that’s what we like to see! Well done, Joseph.

Audrey Low- Year 9

Audrey has been nominated by Ms Lumsden for her work in Fashion Design. Ms Lumsden has been impressed by Audrey’s attention to detail and her accurate work. In addition to her star nomination, Audrey has also received several green chronicles from teachers for her teamwork, polite demeanour and her consistent willingness to work hard and try her best. What a great start to the year, Audrey!

Brianna Brook- Year 10

Ms Neil nominated Brianna for working exceptionally well in all classes. At the start of the year Brianna set herself some goals for the school year and so far she is working well towards the attainment of these goals. Several teachers have given Brianna green chronicles for her approach to her studies. Keep up the great work, Brianna!

Hene Thorsen- Year 12

Ms Lumsden nominated Hene for the sensational effort she is putting into her Studio Arts work. Hene seeks feedback and responds to this feedback and as a result, she makes significant improvements to her work. That’s the sort of approach we like to see from our Year 12 students. Congratulations, Hene! We can’t wait to see the fruits of your labour later in the year.

VCE Creative Showcase 2021

The VCE Creative Showcase 2021 is an art exhibition which recognises the creative excellence and rich creative practice of young artists from schools across the Yarra Ranges.

Each year, a large number of students from across the Yarra Ranges apply to have their work on display in the exhibition.

Very excitingly, Mahna Tarr-Hatherall's, fine liner on paper 'VCE Student' and acrylic paint on canvas 'Imogen' artwork, completed in Studio Arts last year, will be exhibited in this year’s VCE Creative Showcase 2021.

It would be great to see the school community support Mahna and attend the exhibition. Tickets to opening night and to attend the exhibition can be accessed through the QR code on the poster or through Burrinja Gallery website  https://www.burrinja.org.au/burrinja-whats-on/what-s-on-all-events#VCE2021
