Myrniong - ELC to Yr6

2020 Orientation Day

Next Thursday, 12th November will be our Junior School Orientation Day.  Students will step up to their 2021 classes and meet their new teachers.  Unfortunately, current restrictions prevent us from having any of the new 2021 students to the College join us for the day.  The rooms used next Thursday may not be the 2021 classrooms.  Decisions will be made about the location of classes later in the term.  The two Year Six classes will be split on a House basis for the day, with Young/Berry and Laidlaw/Learmonth students combining.  Students will get the opportunity to work with both Year Six teachers.  These will not be their 2021 classes.  Mrs Kelly and the 2021 Prep class have been undertaking one-hour orientation sessions each Thursday morning.  The final session was today.  The ELC-4 Piccino students enrolled in Prep for 2021 will join us for Orientation Day.  2021 Year Seven students will start the day with an Art lesson at Myrniong, and then transition up to MYPEC for the remainder of the day.  They will be required to wear P.E. uniform.

Uniting Church Christmas Hamper Appeal

An important connection to our local Hamilton community is the Junior School’s annual support of the Uniting Church Christmas Hamper Appeal.  We ask all families to assist us in helping make Christmas a little easier for marginalised and less fortunate members of our local community.  The following items are requested.

*Canned ham, fruit, vegetables and plum pudding

*Packet biscuits, nuts and sweets

*Long life fruit juice and milk

*Pasta and sauces

Please, no alcohol or dumping of unwanted items from the pantry.

Each class will have a ‘Christmas Hamper Box’ in which items can be placed.  The final date for donations is Tuesday, December 1st.

HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY

Last Thursday saw us running the Junior School House Cross Country at the Parklands Golf Course.  Without crowds this year, the course looked a little different, however that certainly did not deter or slow down our very enthusiastic runners!  In our first House event since February our students were a picture of colour and smiles as they made their way around a 1km, 1.5km, 2km and 3km track.

Many congratulations to all of the students who achieved their running goals on the day.  For some their goal was to beat a PB or placing from 2019, for others to finish the prescribed distance with little or no walking.  I absolutely loved the positive spirit and energy that surrounded each and every runner on the day.

Congratulations to the Piccino runners who joined in with our youngest age groups to participate as well – so many promising superstars among them!

The overall trophy, ribbon and medallion presentation was made at the Junior School this Wednesday and were as follows.

1st: Laidlaw, presented to House Captains Darcy Fleetwood and Hattie Nicholls.

2nd: Berry
