Associate Principal, Operations Report

Last week’s celebration of the Year 12 students went some way to rewarding them for their patience, fortitude and efforts throughout this unexpectedly challenging year for them.  At Myrniong, at the boarding house, in a Year 12 Service held in the Auditorium and during Speech Day itself, they conducted themselves with great dignity and honour. It was lovely to be able to have with us, online, those members of the Year 12 group who are overseas and who have persevered with their VCE in a seven month long remote period.

We are very proud of all the young men and women who make up this year’s Year 12 cohort.

I was very touched also by some kind and generous acknowledgements of my time here. I have been blessed to spend time in this community with some excellent colleagues and wonderful students.  I look forward to continuing to be involved in the School Archives as we head towards to Sesquicentenary and I imagine that the pull of Pedrina Park will ensure I maintain some hockey involvement!

As we look forward, our Year 12 students commence their written examinations next Tuesday.  All SACs (School Assessed Coursework exercises) are completed and the final performance and language oral examinations will have taken place by the time this Newsletter is released.  The exams last until the start of December, although some students, by virue of their course of subjects, will finish well before the end of this month.  VCE results are scheduled for release on 30 December so we will hope for some good early New Year celebrations!

In the end, we want each Year 12 student to be able to look in the mirror and say to themselves “I did my best.”  These few days before the exams commence and then the period until each individual’s exams conclude can make a huge difference and we wish them all well.
