Principal's Report

Dear Collingwood College,

Welcome back to our Prep-Year 7 and VCE/VCAL students! It is wonderful to have you back and to have the school full of laughter and conversation again. During the return to school, we want to ensure all students return with as much success as possible, with a priority focus on the important areas of mental health and wellbeing, learning, and transitions.

A reminder that as our students return, we are required to ensure we have clear processes to protect the health and safety of all students and staff.  We are still restricting parent access to school grounds, we continue to emphasise the importance of hand hygiene and ensure physical distancing where possible.  Masks must be worn by all students in Yr7 and above.

Please remember that Year 8, 9 and 10 students are returning to onsite learning from Monday 26th October. We look forward to welcoming them back.

I am proud to announce two Principal Class appointments made this week, the first being Fitzroy Gasworks (Interim name) Campus Principal. In conjunction with Fitzroy High School and Principal Linda Mitchell, I would like to congratulate Chris Millard as the successful candidate. This announcement is on par with the fact that construction is well underway at the new site. Gasworks no longer a ‘pipe dream’, rather, a building that will be complete in less than 18 months. Chris is a familiar face to Collingwood, and now officially joins our leadership team.

The second appointment, Assistant Principal - Primary, I would like to congratulate Margaret Doucas as the successful candidate. We know Margaret very well as she has been acting in this position for 18+ months!  Collingwood College is extremely fortunate to have Chris and Margaret on our team.

Our Year 12 students began their examination period last week by sitting the GAT. This leads them into the final stages of their VCE journey as they continue on to their final exams. We wish them the best of luck and good wishes and hope they all achieve a standard of which they are proud.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend and GO CATS!

Sam Luck
