Principal's News

Our theme for this year is

ACT! EMPOWER! FLOURISH!

Dear Parents,

Our first two weeks have been wonderful and it is great to have all the children back with us. The  children have been very busy with their school work and assessments as we focus heavily on Literacy and Numeracy skills this term as well as ensuring that all the children get the support they need to settle back into school life. We had our first online assembly last week which was a little strange but worked well. We will continue to use this platform for our assemblies until we are allowed to gather as a whole school.

Whilst there are still many unknowns about what we can and can’t do this term we are slowly getting more clarity about the programs we can run. Our tennis program has begun and our speech therapists and counsellors/psychologists are back working onsite. The junior children will be undertaking a 3 week gymnastics program in their PE lessons starting this week. We are still waiting to hear about swimming for the preps - 4s and what format our graduation and orientation programs will take.

REMINDER:

On Monday 2nd November and Tuesday 3rd November there is NO school for the children due to a school closure day and the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday.

YLV will be open on Monday 2nd November ONLY.

Please call 8790 6511 or 0400 756 785 to book in if you need to use this service.

SCHOOL PHOTOS:

School photos will go ahead on the 29th October. Those families who have already placed their orders will not need to do anything else. If you have not yet ordered your photos please do so using the information sent home to you on Thursday 22nd October. There will be one difference with photos this year - the group/class photo will be replaced with individual shots of each child put together on a class page.

School Photos will be this Thursday 29th October.

Please follow this link to read through the amended arrangements to stay COVID safe.  Revised order envelopes were sent home Thursday 22nd October. Contact the office if you did not receive yours.

BAKERS DELIGHT:

Bakers Delight Macedon Square have been great supporters of our school for the last couple of years. They have offered $20 vouchers for those in our community experiencing financial hardship. If you know of anyone who may be in need of some financial assistance please let me know.

We have recently communicated with Bakers Delight to let them know that we have decided not to undertake any fundraising in Term 4. They very kindly offered to give St Kevin’s families 20% discount in the place of the fundraising events we usually run with them at the end of the year. A flyer will be sent home soon to outline the details of how to access the discount. We would like to say a huge thank-you to Bakers Delight in Macedon Square for their ongoing support in such difficult times.

REMINDERS:

Stay home if unwell

One of the most important things that we will all need to do to ensure everyone’s safety is to stay home if we are unwell. In order to keep our community safe we ask that all families are vigilant with this aspect of creating a safe community and return to onsite schooling. Please err on the side of caution if you are unsure about the health of your child and keep him/her at home even if only minor symptoms are evident and organise for a Covid-19 test. We do have staff who are vulnerable but who have decided to come back to work for the sake of the children, so please help us to keep them safe.

SCHOOL LEVY REFUNDS:

Please see the following message that was outlined in a letter sent to all families dated 3rd September 2020.

“Please be assured any levies that you have paid, for events that do not go ahead, will be refunded at the end of the year to those who have paid in full. We have not refunded these amounts yet in case we can go ahead with some of the programs in term 4 and then it would be very messy to have to reissue invoices. So please note refunds will be issued towards the end of the year if you have paid for events that have not occurred.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please feel free to contact me on 9273 9999 to discuss the supports available to you.”

SACRAMENTS 2020:

All children who were due to make a Sacrament in 2020 will have the opportunity to celebrate their Sacrament in 2021. More details and information will follow early next year once more details are known about numbers and the types of celebrations we are allowed to have.

2021 ENROLMENTS:

If you are aware of anyone who has a child starting prep next year,  please encourage them to contact us for an enrolment pack. If you have a child starting school next year - feel free to access the enrolment form on our website or by accessing the link below.

Kindest regards
