PFA  NEWS

We held our final PFA meeting of the year on Tuesday night with the major agenda item being the biennial School Fair which is scheduled to take place in early 2021. The chaos that Covid-19 has created has put much of the PFA activities on hold for this year, however we plan to take a pro-active approach to the start of 2021 in regards to the staging of the Fair.

We have decided to plan for an event to be held early in the new school year (March 20th). Our goals for the event will be:

  • To be one of the first major local events in the community
  • To be engaging for both our school community and the broader local community
  • To create exposure for our school throughout the community
  • To showcase the values of our school and project them to the community through a fun, family friendly event

Our concept is to have a single key component then build other elements around this to create an event. The idea of a concert has been tabled, with the concert stage being the focal point for the entire event, and elements such as food and drink vendors built in around that. Think a music festival type event with a program of performances across the day and other activities to keep people interested between performances.

Here’s where we need your help! We are seeking information from anyone in the school community who might be able to help get some high-quality acts to our school. Maybe your mother’s cousins wife’s sister knows Elton John and can help open the conversation about getting him here! Maybe your dog does dog training with John Farnham’s dog. Any leads/information will help! We’re looking for Bands, Comedians, sportspeople etc. etc. – basically any high-quality acts that could fill a timeslot through the day. Once we’re able to build a program, we can then build the rest of the event around that.

So…dig deep into your network of friends, family and acquaintances to see if there is some way of helping getting someone or something massive to our Fair.

Finally, we also held our PFA AGM on Tuesday night and completed the formalities for the year. We are pleased to say that the key roles within the committee will remain the same with the exception of our long serving Treasurer Scott Miller who steps down and is replaced by Wes Folkard. Thanks for all your time and effort Scott and welcome to Wes. As always, if there is anyone out there who is keen to be involved please let us know.

Now, its time to start scrolling through your phone contact list, lean over your back fence, go to the dog park and send all possible Fair concert leads to pfa@santglen.catholic.edu.au

Cheers,

Scott & Troy
