Big Idea: Rocks, soils and landscapes have characteristics that can change over time

  • Our lives are enriched and enhanced by our natural resources
  • We can take action to preserve and enhance our natural landscape

  • What are the layers of Earth?
  • What is soil?
  • What is a landscape?
  • How and why do landscapes change?
  • How are rocks formed and why do they change over time
  • What is erosion?

2B - Miss Bailey

This term students in Grade 2 have been learning about rocks, soils and landscapes. In writing students used the knowledge they have gained through Inquiry to create information reports about famous Australian landmarks including Uluru, Kakadu National Park, Bungle Bungle and The Pinnacles. Students had to work in pairs to find the information they needed and create their information report.

2C - Mr Lewis

This week the students have been busy completing information report posters about famous Australian rocky landscapes as part of our inquiry into ’The Earth Beneath Our Feet’. Some of these famous landscapes have included Uluru, Kakadu National Park, The Pinnacles and Bungle Bungle.
