Leadership at Monty

Welcome!
How lucky are we to have been able to welcome our 2021 Foundation students to Monty this week?! Meet Sadie, Bill and Daisy! What joy!
Easing of Restrictions
With some easing of restrictions we are excited to announce that, despite it looking somewhat different, the Grade 6 Graduation will be going ahead! We are thrilled to be able to support Heidelberg Golf Club, after the year that has been. Students will be able to enjoy a 2 course, sit down meal, on Monday 14th December, accompanied by teachers. More details will be provided shortly!
Our current Grade 6 students are also now able to attend their chosen secondary school for transition in December - another great step forward!
We are also able to reopen drinking fountains and taps- the small joys in life!
Thank you parents and carers, for your diligence and cooperation in ensuring that our school space is as COVID Safe, as possible. We must continue to ensure that social distancing occurs and that we clear school grounds as quickly as possible after school pick up. It is imperative to keep "crowd" numbers at a minimum so that we continue to meet Government and DET requirements. Our staff will continue to adapt some indoor activities to outdoor as well as themselves, relocating to other areas to avoid staff congestion in any one space. We are still unable to have singing groups, or large gatherings, so the preparation for a Webex Monty Christmas Carols will continue! (Wed 9th December - Monty Christmas Carols -via Webex 6:30pm)
2021 Transition
Students are currently working diligently and will be expected to maintain focus right up the end of term, however, we will be using part of Week 10 to transition our students to their 2021 grades. The aim of the 2 sessions is to provide our students, as well as other students that are joining our school next year, with time to become familiar with their new grade and teacher.
We have noticed that there have been some requests from parents that their child be separated from others, for next year's class grouping. On occasion, teachers using their professional judgement, insight and general understating of social groupings, may prefer that some children, learn in separate grades. However, as professionals, we also understand and value the importance of children having opportunities to work though different situations, developing skills and maturing as a result of this process. It is essential that our children develop negotiating skills, that they develop language around resolving conflict and that they learn to be resilient, empathetic and kind. ALL children have the ability to be able to expand skill sets in these areas and our supportive and caring teachers combined with positive reinforcement from home, will allow our children to learn competencies that they will require for the rest of their lives!
End of Year Celebrations
Thursday 17th December- We will continue with the lovely tradition of each student bringing in a Kris Kringle gift for a classmate, combined with our annual Chip-nic (with some COVID safe adjustments!) Further update coming soon.
Have a lovely weekend.
